If you’re planning to visit Bali or stay for an extended period of time, Canggu is where all the digital nomads hang out. This former surfing village has quickly become the most popular area to stay for long term digital nomads in Bali. Bali is just one of my favorite places to visit and to live as a digital nomad. If you’re planning to also come and stay long term in Bali, make sure to read why I love living on the Island of the Gods and please for the love of all that is holy, do not just stay in Canggu and be a bum the entire time. Explore Bali and Indonesia because it is just amazing! Like this amazing photo of Raja Ampat on my dive liveaboard!
In this list, I will go over my favorite cafes to work from. You will find MacBooks in every one of these establishments with plenty of content creators, crypto traders, bloggers, and everything in between. By no means is this list the only cafes available for you to work. There are too many to count but hopefully this list will help you choose!
If you don’t care as much about working cafes, make sure to read my list of the best cafes in Canggu which has 20+ options in the ever growing sphere of Bali cafes!

Finally, if you’re planning to visit Bali and want recommendations for places to stay, make sure to check out my post about the best villas and hotels in Canggu as well as my Bali neighborhood guide to find the best area for you to stay.
While this post is centered around the booming cafe scene in Canggu, there are incredible restaurants in the area as well. If you’re looking for the best restaurants for a nice dinner or lunch, make sure to read my best restaurants in Canggu list!
Canggu cafe culture and scene
I’m just going to say this straight up to get it out of the way. The Canggu area of Bali (Canggu, Berawa, Pererenan) has the most upscale hipster style cafes and brunch restaurants of anywhere in the world. It has the highest concentration of cafes that I’ve ever seen and those are fighting words. If you know of anywhere else in the world that has a higher per capita concentration of beautiful cafes, please let me know.
Nowadays, you’re more likely to find croissants and pancakes in Canggu than you are with Nasi Goreng. Whether that is a good thing or not I’m not sure but for someone looking for a casual workspace, you are spoiled for riches. Seriously though, there are way too many people in Canggu that seem to come here to eat avocado toast and French toast.
My criteria for a good cafe to work from
Like I’ve mentioned already, there are countless cafes and restaurants in Canggu that are amazing and where I could definitely see myself working from. It goes to show just how spoiled Bali digital nomads are when I have to think long and hard to create this list. Nevertheless, criteria have to be created and these are the things I’m looking for when it comes to the best working cafes in Bali.

I don’t take cost into consideration because most of the cafes in Bali charge the same prices as they are more geared towards foreigners. Expect to pay about 25-30k for an Americano and 30-40k IDR for a cappuccino. Brunch/breakfast items will cost between 50k and 90k depending on the restaurant and item. I spend quite a bit at cafes in my day to day life but my overall cost of living in Bali is still very low compared to other areas of the world.
Size and openness
Like I said above, every restaurant and cafe in looks like a place you can spend extended time in to work from. Everything is inviting in Bali so it’s hard to really pick the best option! For the purpose of this post, I will focus on cafes that are larger in size. The larger it is, the more likely it is that you can find a space to work from without feeling like you are taking business away from other customers.
In addition, I like a cafe space that is larger and open. I just work better in large open spaces; think high ceilings and bright light. Many of the cafes in Bali are open air with multiple levels which are aesthetically pleasing. The fact that I can make this a criteria means you really are spoiled when working from Bali! If you’re considering freelance producer jobs in the creative industry, these inspiring cafe spaces can be the perfect backdrop for your work.
Wifi Speeds
For digital nomads, this is an obvious must. Don’t worry, everyone and their mothers have WIFI in Bali so you can expect great wifi to work from. Seriously, most of the Warungs (local restaurants) in Canggu even have WIFI. WIFI speeds are generally quite good and unless you are doing serious media content where you are moving gigabytes of data around, the WIFI here will more than suffice.
If the WIFI speeds are not to snuff for you, you could always just hotspot from your phone. With how cheap data plans are in Bali, you won’t be hurting the bank with sharing data. For reference, I pay about 75k IDR for 30 GB of data a month. More than enough for the few times I hotspot throughout the month.
Crowdedness
The perfect place to work means there are people that visit the cafe because you don’t want a ghost town but also a place that isn’t too hot. If it is too busy, you can’t really concentrate on your work and it will be a nightmare if you actually need to take Zoom calls. This picks up on my previous point about size and openess of the cafe because it is nice to just have your own little space.
Most of the cafes don’t get too crowded so this isn’t an issue but it also depends on the time of year you’re visiting Bali. In peak summer months, you can expect many of the cafes to fill up more than during the rainy season let’s say.
Another issue is noise. Most of the cafes play some sort of background music for ambiance purposes and you can’t fault them for that. If you need to take calls in a quiet area, this could be an issue. It’s impossible to rate noisiness and background music because this is so variable depending on the time of day and what that specific cafe is deciding on that day.
Availability of power plugs
While there are countless beautiful cafes all over Bali, you need to have an abundance of power plugs to make it a good workspace. Most cafes look like they would be perfect work spaces until you sit down, have a coffee, and realize you have no power plugs to keep you going.
Most of the cafes on this list have an easy access to power plugs
Zin Cafe
Zin Cafe is a true blessing to have in Canggu. Zin Cafe is the one and only free co-working space in Bali. Other co-working spaces like Tropical Nomad and BWork charge rates of 3m IDR and above, Zin Cafe is 100% free to use. Zin Cafe is open later than your typical cafe (until 9pm on weekdays) which makes it ideal for Digital Nomads working European hours.
I love Zin Cafe because it is a very large open air space with a modern tropical themed design. It’s extremely welcoming and pleasant to work from. There are plugs everywhere with fast internet speeds. Zin Cafe has multiple areas to work from so there is always space for you. In the back, they have a large communal table perfect if you are planning to have meetings with multiple people. They even have a separate “quiet” room with no music.

The cafe also has a co-living space and gym adjacent to it with cheap monthly rates for digital nomads or just regular tourists. The cafe has great coffee, juices, brunch items, and the lot. Zin cafe is located right next to the beach, perfect if you need a break from the daily grind.

Miel Cafe
After Zin Cafe, my next favorite place to work from in Bali is Miel Cafe. Located on Batu Balong in the heart of Canggu, Miel Cafe is the ultimate eclectic cafe that is absolutely perfect as a workspace.

Miel Cafe offers a large open air design with beautiful wood and stone finishes. Every corner of this cafe is Instagrammable from its coffee machines to the white paint that highlights the space.
The coffee is delicious as are the croissants and the brunch menu. I worked here on multiple occasions because you can always find a spot and the noise level is very reasonable.

Dua Tiga
Located in Berawa across the street from other great work cafe options like Nude and Cinta is Dua Tiga. This cafe offers a quaint downstairs area with small round tables and an upstairs area offering huge open air space. The space is absolutely beautiful and inviting. The many tables are thoughtfully designed and decorated with plenty of space for your work materials. If the tables are full, there is always bar seating in the back perfect for individuals. There are not so many plugs in the upstairs area however.

Dua Tiga also makes great coffee and great cafe inspired food so you can easily stay here the whole day. When you’re ready to call it a day, you can even go to the open air bar area for a happy hour drink.

Daun Cafe
Daun Cafe is one of my favorite cafes to work in Canggu because the space has everything I need. Daun Cafe has a beautiful interior with comfortable rattan chairs and rustic wood tables. The outside has comfortable sofa seating all with shade cover. The space has plugs against the walls making it perfect to work.

I’ve not tried the food at Daun Cafe but from what I’ve seen it is very good. I normally get myself my favorite dragon fruit juice and work away. Given it’s close proximity to the Body Factory makes it a perfect place to go after a workout.

Given it’s small size, it’s not suitable for work calls as there is plenty of noise from all the scooters zooming by on the street.

Amolas Cafe Canggu
Amolas Cafe is located just off the main Batu Balong strip. This cafe is a digital nomad’s dream. It offers an open air beautiful decorated space with plenty of comfortable seats all abound. There are power plugs at most of the tables around the cafe and you’ll see plenty of other people engaged in similar activities.

In addition, the food and coffee here is very good. They have an extensive menu of Western and Indonesian food at very good prices. This is definitely one of my favorite places in Canggu!

Nude Canggu
Located on the same street as Milu by Nook and Milk & Madu (see the trend here with the cafes in Bali?), Nude is my favorite of the bunch to work from. They have a large and beautiful covered outdoor space with plenty of plugs for you to work from. There is also an indoor space with A/C for those that prefer to escape the Bali humidity.

The food menu at Nude is also delicious with plenty of good coffee options. This is probably one of the better breakfasts I’ve had in Bali, which is saying a lot because the options are literally endless.

Suka Espresso Berawa
Suka Espresso in Berawa is a popular favorite for locals and expats alike. This location in Berawa has two floors of beautiful wood and stone seating with ample space for you to do your work. The upstairs is particularly attractive as you get a nice view of the street. Suka is entirely open air concept with beautiful decorations all over.
Their breakfast menu is extensive and I’ve had just about everything on the list. In addition, the location in Berawa offers some of the best pizza in Bali. It is actually a Napoli style pizza (yes really), and while it is not as good as what you’ll find in Naples, it is a damn good alternative.
There aren’t as many plugs in Suka but if you get the couches near the walls, there will be some for you to use.

Milu by Nook
The Nook restaurant group has restaurants all over Bali but none are better to work from than the Milu by Nook restaurant in Canggu. This huge cafe/restaurant brings an interior with Ubud vibes in the heart of Canggu. It is an entirely open air with nice high ceilings and fantastic views of the rice fields.

It is more of a restaurant than a cafe in my opinion but if you come here during the mornings, it is quite empty. You’ll find the standard brunch items and coffee here which were tasty. Above all, this place just offers a beautiful view to work from if you’re after that. The power plugs are lacking here however so only come here if you have a long battery life on your computer.

Crate Cafe
Crate cafe in Canggu is one of the local favorites. An old industrial space turned into cafe/brunch destination means you get a large open space with rice field views. Crate cafe is very popular with the expats and digital nomads of Bali as the food items are quite cheap (50k IDR or so).

Crate cafe is open early as well (from 6am) which means it is perfect for those that are working US West coast hours). Crate cafe isn’t the perfect place to work in my opinion as it gets very busy from 9am and onward. There’s a constant flow of people coming and going that it’s too distracting for me. Nevertheless, this is the perfect place to be before 9am and/or if you want to be social and are just half working.

Doppio Cafe
Doppio Cafe is located right next to the Body Factory gym which is definitely the hotspot among the digital nomads. It’s not affiiliated with the gym at all but it gets a lot of traffic from people that have just worked out. The cafe offers one of the best deals on the island with a 50k price tag on all of their brunch/breakfast items. Protein shakes and smoothies are also the same price.

Doppio cafe is a smaller cafe with a welcoming tropical interior. There are plugs readily available in most of the restaurant and there are plenty of people here working throughout the day. It does get quite busy as you can expect from the cheap brunch prices so this is not the ideal place to work from the whole day.
Not a big deal as you can simply go down the street where the Zin Cafe is located!

Satu Satu Canggu
Satu Satu cafe is another favorite for digital nomads in Bali. This space in Berawa has an indoor A/C room with plenty of tables and plugs as well as a covered outdoor area directly in front. The coffee and food here are superb with prices slightly lower than the othe rcafes on this list.
Satu Satu is owned by a Balinese family. They have their own delicious specialty Bali coffee. Their menu has a huge variety of local and international options with extremely affordable prices.

Brunch Club Pererenan
Pererenan is full of beautiful cafes. It’s the new and coming neighborhood after Canggu and the cafes here are more spacious and generally more open than those in Canggu. Brunch Club Pererenan offers a beautiful space with couches, tables, and chairs. It is very open with high ceilings and beautiful decorated plants all over the restaurant.

There are numerous locations around Bali but this space is definitely the most inviting as a work space. As it is Pererenan, it doesn’t get super busy so you’ll always have a space to work from without feeling like you need to leave because of too many diners.
Brunch Club offers a wide array of brunch items and great coffee as well as a decent number of power plugs.

Cinta Cafe
Cinta Cafe in Berawa is definitely one of the hot spots for brunch and coffee. Cinta offers delicious syrniki that is vetted by all the Russian friends I made in Bali. I can also attest that it is delicious.

Cinta is a perfect work space as it offers views of the rice fields with great outdoor seating. There is an indoor area and an outdoor area but everything is open air. Sit by the couches near the walls for the power plugs and work away. The food and coffee here are top notch which is why it attracts the following it does.
