The Ultimate Guide To Padel In Bali

Having lived in Bali for many years and seeing the ebbs and flows of this beautiful island, it’s clear to me that the Padel movement has taken Bali by storm. Before COVID, Padel was non-existent in the Island of the Gods. Fast forward many years later, and padel has become religion in Bali. People live and breathe padel to an extent that you won’t find anywhere else in the world. From the beautiful courts to the competitive crowd, anyone that wants to play Padel can find their crowd in Bali.

If you’re new to Bali, the padel scene might seem overwhelming trying to figure out how to play. Don’t worry, this post will dive into the Padel scene of Bali, how to book and play games, tournaments, the various courts in the island, and much more.

Where to play Padel in Bali

Whether you’re a platinum level Padel pro or a complete noob, you’ll find a court to play in Bali. A few years ago, there was no court that I could remember. Nowadays, there are courts everywhere and new courts popping up all the time.

Here are the main padel courts and companies that I play in. These are not all the courts that exist in Bali but merely the ones I play in. Other padel courts like La Liga and Pro Padel are not on this list simply because they are too far from where I live. Why travel all the way to Kerobokan or Umalas where there are so many courts in Seseh and Pererenan?

Bali Padel Academy

Without a doubt, Bali Padel Academy (BPA) is the most beautiful and the most competitive padel court in Bali. Located in Canggu north of Raya Canggu, BPA is located deep in the rice fields surrounded by lush greenery. This six court club also has a beautiful infinity pool, sauna, and plenty of lounge chairs.

There is also a restaurant onsite run by an Austrian chef that makes amazing Kaiserschmarnn reminiscent of my times in the Dolomites. What better combination than Kaiserschmarrn and Padel? A true Bali tradition.

BPA, partners with NOX Padel, attracts the highest competition of Padel in Bali. The highest concentration of high gold and pro players call this court home. BPA also hosts big time tournaments with hundreds of players. The finals of these tournaments attracts crowds in the thousands and it becomes an entire spectacle. There is even a court (the NOX stadium) which has small stadium seating!

Jungle Padel (multiple locations)

Jungle Padel is probably the largest padel chain in Bali. With locations all over Bali including in the Canggu shortcut, Pererenan, Kerobokan, Uluwatu, Ubud, and Seseh (new location), Jungle Padel is a household name in the Bali padel scene.

I’ve been to the court in Pererenan numerous times to play matches with friends as well as Americano tournaments. The courts are not as picturesque as Bali Padel Academy with the exception of the huge Seseh location opening up in 2026. Once the Seseh location opens up, I will likely never leave Seseh again and will give up Bali Padel Academy.

Island Padel (multiple locations)

Island Padel is another large chain of Padel courts in Bali. They have locations in Canggu and Cemagi with the latter being the one I visit. The location in Cemagi also has a gym on site but nothing like the big gyms elsewhere in Bali.

I mostly play in the Cemagi location since I live in Seseh. The vibe at Island Padel Cemagi is definitely more laid back and less competitive than at BPA.

Bali Social Academy (Canggu)

Bali Social Academy is the largest Padel and gym combination in Bali. It’s a huge space in the heart of Canggu and has a cult like following. It combines a high end gym equipped with all the necessities (gym, spa, pool), co-working spaces, restaurant, and of course beautiful padel courts.

If you’re staying in the Canggu area, you can buy a membership to this club and stay there the entire day and feel like you’ve been the most productive you’ve ever been.

Finding Padel Matches

If you have 4 people, you can simply book a court at one of the many padel courts in Bali. If you are just 1 or 2 people looking to play a game against others, then you can book a court and leave it “open”. This allows others to join the match with a player rating that you set. This allows you to play competitive and friendly matches against strangers, and maybe even make friends along the way!

Cost of playing Padel in Bali

Playing padel in Bali is incredibly affordable compared to other parts of the world. Not only are the prices great, but the courts are stunning with all the amenities you can dream of.

The cost to rent a court for 60 minutes in a place like Bali Padel Academy is 520k IDR. Split between 4 people and the cost becomes 130k per person. Other courts like Jungle Padel and Bali Social Club charge similar prices with courts further out of the main tourist triangle (like Jungle Padel Kedungu) charging slightly less.

Americanos are roughly 250k IDR per person and this is for 2 hours of non-stop padel.

Playing in Americanos tournaments

Americanos are a round robin style tournament that are very popular in the padel world. These tournaments are not played with a chosen partner, but you rotate through the players participating. A typical Americano will be 16 players which means you play 15 games. You will be paired with everyone of the other 15 players once and you will play against everyone twice. It’s very much a singles tournament testing your skills.

The games are usually until 16 points (every point you score will be 1 point). In the end, whomever scores the most points in those 15 games will win.

Americanos are an incredible way to get experience in fast. You play 15 games back to back which means you’re getting quality game time experience. In total, these tournaments last 2 hours and you’re sure to work up a sweat along the way!

Taking Padel Lessons

If you’re a noob or an experienced player looking to improve your game, there are no shortage of coaching options available in the Bali padel scene.

I’ve taken a handful of lessons to hone my understanding of the fundamentals and get repetitions in. I find that padel is all about getting as many reps in as possible. In game reps are the most important but sometimes you need to understand the right form and technique so you can practice those things in game.

The beauty of private lessons is that the coach will tell you exactly how to hit the ball so you can transfer that into the game. Whether you can execute what you’ve learned in a different question but at least you know what to do.

Lessons can be booked on a 1 to 1, 2 to 1, or even 4 to 1 basis. I find that lessons with a partner is the most fun as you can take a breather as the coach focuses on your partner, as well as observing what someone else does in the same situation. 4 to 1 coaching is also amazing as you can play a normal game and the coach can offer their observations in a live game format.

Each club has coaches of varying levels. They can be booked with the app or via WhatsApp messages. Prices will vary depending on the skill level of the coach. The cheapest coaches can be found for something like 800k per hour all the way up to 2m per hour.
