The top family-friendly activities in France

While France is often thought of as a destination for loved-up couples, it is also the perfect location for a family holiday with the kids. With a rich variety of landscapes, child-friendly attractions, and fantastic places to stay, you’d be silly not letting the kids experience this amazing country in all its glory.

The most difficult job you’ll have when visiting France, however, is figuring out what to include in your itinerary. To help make this task a little easier, here are just a few of our favourites.

Disneyland Paris

Europe’s biggest amusement park is a dream come true for adults and little ones alike. With unbelievable architecture, thrilling rides, and friendly characters from a variety of Disney films, the children will surely be left speechless.

The park is smaller in size than its American counterpart, meaning it’s much easier to get around and there are attractions suitable for children of all ages, from ‘it’s a small world’ to ‘Big Thunder Mountain’.

You’ll even find tons of different options for accommodation with exceptional facilities. Whether you’re looking for an indoor pool, Disney-themed rooms and restaurants, or character encounters in your hotel, there’s a treasure trove catering to all tastes.

Skiing in the French Alps

With plenty of ski resorts, qualified instructors, and pistes suitable for beginners, a family ski holiday in France is a no-brainer!

One resort in particular that is best suited for families is Avoriaz. Having been awarded the ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ certification numerous times, you can rest assured knowing that there are plenty of activities and entertainment options to suit all ages.

In addition, you’ve got La Plagne and Flaine, which are both known for their variety of slopes, family-friendly restaurants and accommodation, and après-ski facilities. I still prefer the Italian alps to the French Alps but you realy can’t go wrong with any resort in this part of the world.

Sightseeing in Paris

While getting the kids to walk around a busy city for hours on end might not always be the easiest thing in the world, they’ll love exploring the main attractions in Paris.

The Eiffel Tower is as iconic as they come, and the sheer size of the landmark is sure to impress your little ones. The view from the top overlooking the city is incredible, but first, you’ll need to make your way up there. There is a lift available but you can also climb the stairs if your family feels up to it.

With a few breaks in between, it’s a fun activity with a sense of accomplishment like nothing else. The kids will also be tired out and ready for some food once they reach the bottom.

Other landmarks to visit with children include the Arc de Triomphe, Luxembourg Gardens, and Notre Dame. The latter is currently being restored but will hopefully reopen in time for the Summer Olympics this year.
