Lions in Africa

Hlane National Park, Swaziland

Swaziland, a small country surrounded by South Africa and Mozambique is a quick getaway from South Africa. Not requiring any visas upon arrival, Swaziland is the perfect place for someone that wants to get out of SA for a bit and see something different. Swaziland is a much less developed country than its neighbor but it has some beautiful game viewing. I visited Hlane National Park in Oct 2014, and finally got to cross seeing white rhinos (and I must have seen twenty of them) off the list!

If they do, it's fine. Elephants right around the corner.

The watering hole at this game reserve is the best thing as it's right in the campsite and animals come to this daily to cool off.

White rhinos are what this park in Swaziland is known for. There are large numbers in this place and is actually the first time I've ever seen a white rhino.

Getting some selfies taken. Later, we got a bit too close to a bull elephant grazing, thinking the "electric" fences would actually protect us at all, and he ended up charging us. Might have been the scariest moment in my life!

I'm a dual Canadian-American from NYC that moved to South Africa for work and ended up traveling all through the continent. I'm currently living the expat life in Frankfurt, Germany and traveling the world as much as I can. I'm a bit obsessed with scuba diving, churning credit cards so I never pay to fly, and eating the most questionable of foods in the most peculiar of places. My bucket list is the world, and some day I might make it there.
