After working from cafes all over the world, I can say Barcelona is one of my favorite cities for the digital nomad lifestyle. There’s something about the mix of sunshine, creativity, great coffee, and walkable neighborhoods that makes remote work feel a little more fun here. If you’re searching for the best cafes in Barcelona to work from, you’ll quickly realize this city has a style all its own.
Barcelona isn’t always the easiest cafe city for laptop work at first glance. A lot of the cafes are small, tables can be tight, and not every spot is designed for people settling in with a computer for hours. But that’s also part of the charm. Because Barcelona is such a big and diverse city, there are plenty of hidden gems if you know where to look — from cozy neighborhood coffee shops to bright, stylish spaces with good Wi-Fi and a relaxed atmosphere.
For digital nomads, freelancers, and anyone working remotely while traveling, finding the right cafe in Barcelona can make a huge difference. In this guide, I’m sharing the cafes that stand out not just for their coffee, but for their comfort, vibe, and actual workability. Whether you need a quiet place to focus, a creative spot to spend the afternoon, or just a laptop-friendly cafe in Barcelona that doesn’t feel overly corporate, these are the places worth knowing.

My criteria for a good cafe to work from
Like I’ve mentioned already, there are many cafes and restaurants in Barcelona that are amazing and where I could definitely see myself working from. Barcelona while not as abundantly populated with amazing work cafes as say Canggu in Bali, has more than enough options to keep you busy. Nevertheless, criteria have to be created and these are the things I’m looking for when it comes to the best working cafes in Barcelona.
I don’t take cost into consideration because most of the cafes in Barcelona charge the same prices. Expect to pay about €2-3 for an Americano and €3-4 for a cappuccino. Brunch/breakfast items will cost between €8-€12 depending on the restaurant and item. Barcelona is one of the most expensive places in Europe so expect to pay up for it.
Size and openness
Like I said above, every restaurant and cafe in looks like a place you can spend extended time in to work from. For the purpose of this post, I will focus on cafes that are larger. The larger it is, the more likely it is that you can find a space to work from without feeling like you are taking business away from other customers. However, this is not always feasible!
Cafes in Barcelona are abundant and they range from small to warehouse style sizing. It depends on the neighborhood you’re in but generally, you can expect cafes on this list to be on the larger side.
I just work better in large open spaces; think high ceilings and bright light.
Like the rest of Spain, the overall vibe in Barcelona is laid back and chilled. The cafes in Barcelona are also very chilled and people are friendly. Simply order your flat white and work away. Of course, don’t be that douchebag working in a cafe without buying something. Support the local businesses after all!
Wifi Speeds
For digital nomads, this is an obvious must. Wifi in Barcelona is generally very good but some cafes had slower speeds that I needed (and I don’t even need that much) so be prepared to hotspot if necessary. WIFI speeds are generally quite good and unless you are doing serious media content where you are moving gigabytes of data around, the WIFI here will more than suffice.
If the WIFI speeds are not to snuff for you, you could always just hotspot from your phone. With how cheap data plans are in Spain, you won’t be hurting the bank with sharing data.
Crowdedness
The perfect place to work means there are people that visit the cafe because you don’t want a ghost town but also a place that isn’t too hot. If it is too busy, you can’t really concentrate on your work and it will be a nightmare if you actually need to take Zoom calls. This picks up on my previous point about size and openness of the cafe because it is nice to just have your own little space.
Most of the cafes don’t get too crowded so this isn’t an issue but it also depends on the time of year you’re visiting Barcelona (on the week days at least). In peak summer months, you can expect many of the cafes to fill up more than during the rainy season let’s say.
Another issue is noise. Most of the cafes play some sort of background music for ambiance purposes and you can’t fault them for that. If you need to take calls in a quiet area, this could be an issue. It’s impossible to rate noisiness and background music because this is so variable depending on the time of day and what that specific cafe is deciding on that day.
Availability of power plugs
While there are countless beautiful cafes all over Barcelona, you need to have an abundance of power plugs to make it a good workspace. Most cafes look like they would be perfect work spaces until you sit down, have a coffee, and realize you have no power plugs to keep you going.
The cafes in Barcelona are sometimes well equipped with power plugs and others not so much. The city knows what they’re doing trying to attract the digital nomads and the cafe owners have made sure to equip their cafes accordingly.
Availability of Water
This is not a hard requirement for me but a nice to have, especially if you’re in a country where the tap water is not safe to drink. Having water available for a long day of work is imperative for me and while I’m okay just buying bottled water, it’s hard to beat up free water.
In Barcelona as a whole, many of the cafes I went to provided free unlimited water that you could refill at any time. I really liked having this as it allowed me to stay hydrated in the super hot summer weather (40C+).
Sabio Infante – Gracia
Sabio Infante is my go to spot in Gracia to get work done. Unlike most of the cafes and restaurants in Gracia which are small streetfront stalls, Sabio Infante has plenty of space to sit down, enjoy a coffee, and get work done.
Sabio’s beautiful vintage interior with its green ceilings, exposed brick, and wooden furniture screams of a hipster cafe that is the de facto neighborhood cafe for locals and digital nomads alike.
My child’s daycare was nearby and I found myself at Sabio Infante almost everyday. The coffee is delicious and cheaper than the city center, and the vibe is perfect. There is a full kitchen as well serving classic brunch items with a twist.

Honest Greens
Honest Greens might be one of the most successful chain restaurants in all of Barcelona. Their build your own style of menu is exactly what Barcelona was needing and it clearly struck a nerve. The food is tasty, well portioned, and the vibe is just perfect.
THere are multiple locations in Barcelona but most of the locations are massive with plenty of seating in their industrial garden chic interior. Even though it’s a chain, the design and attention to detail that was put into each location is nothing short of exceptional.
Not all of them are great for working as it gets super busy during the lunchtime rush. However, my preferred location by the Arc de Triomph is probably the largest of the chains. They have an entire upstairs area dedicated to digital nomads with plenty of plush seating space, free water, and strong wifi to get work done. Because the restaurant is so big and so popular, no one will bother you when you post up for a few hours.
When you’re hungry, simply order from the App and collect the food when it’s ready. If you need coffee, Honest Greens has an in house artisanal coffee station that is just as busy as their restaurant.

Kafenion BCN
Kafenion is my go to cafe for a traditional Greek cafe experience with perfectly executed Freddo Espressos and spanakopita. It reminds me of being in Greece all over again. This beautiful Bohemian style cafe is located on the border between Eixample and Gracia.
The cafe is not huge but larger than most of the cafes in the neighborhood which makes it perfect for getting work done. The cafe gets busy in the morning as it is quite popular with locals and tourists alike. However, the space in the back is ample and mostly empty which makes it a great place to post up for a few hours adn get work done. The seating isn’t the most comfortable but because of the great pastries and coffee, I can make an exception!

D Origen Coffee Roasters
Located in the heart of Eixample, D Origen is one of the best coffee shops in Barcelona. They’ve been ranked in the top 100 coffee shops in the world and it’s not hard to see why.
Coffee aside (which is very good), the space is large and open which is hard to find in Eixample. There are plenty of tables inside including a communal high top table which is perfect for those that need to get work done. Just note that there are no power plugs at this table so you should not expect to plug in for too long.
The cafe gets very busy as it’s so popular so make sure to come early before the crowds. Best before 11am.

Coffee Hackers
Coffee Hackers is my go to cafe spot in Sant Gervasi. This roastery grinds their own beans that you can purchase and so you know the coffee is going to be excellent.
Coffee aside, the space is larger and more open than most of the cafes in the Sant Gervasi-Sarria area. There are high tops and comfortable seating along the wall. Power plugs are located all throughout the cafe so it’s perfect for the digital nomads out there. The wifi is strong and the crowds are not that excessive so it’s a great place to get work done while sipping on delicious coffee.
The cafe gets very busy as it’s so popular so make sure to come early before the crowds. Best before 11am.

Itnig Cafe
Poblenou is the digital nomad hotspot of Barcelona. It gives off hipster Williamsburg vibes and strolling through the neighborhood might make you quickly forget that you’re in Barcelona or even in Europe.
Poblenou is home to numerous beautiful cafes and restaurants that are perfect for the digital nomad to get work done.
Itnig cafe is probably one of the most popular work cafes in the city. It’s located across the street from the Itnig co-working space for those that need to get serious work done. The cafe however, is equipped with numerous tables, high tops, and comfortable seating for those that don’t want to commit to the full experience. As a wandering nomad, this is perfect for me.
The coffee from Itnig is from Syra which has locations all over the country and various sandwiches. It’s not the most comprehensive food menu but gets the job done. Thankfully, there are so many amazing food options in the neighborhoood!

Mono Cafe
Located a few minutes from Itnig cafe is the Mono. This beautiful cafe gives off Bali vibes with its rounded concrete benches, white walls, and green planters. This cafe is spacious, open, and there’s plenty of room to spread out with your laptops.
Plugs are littered all around the cafe meaning you are welcome to get stuff done for the long haul. The coffee is fantastic as well as the food offerings. They have a full kitchen at the cafe making delicious sandwiches and other cafe dishes.
The wifi was a bit spotty when I went however so make sure you have a backup hotspot device ready to go.
Best of all? The coffee is among the cheaper offerings in Barcelona. At €3 for an iced Americano, it’s a bargain!

Brew Coffee
Located in Eixample nearby to the Arc de Triompf, Brew Coffee has a good amount of indoor and outdoor space. The cafe is very work friendly as there are plenty of tables next to plugs. The Wi-Fi speeds are good and coffee is excellent.
As this cafe was close to my apartment, I came here on numerous occasions to get work done. It’s pretty quiet overall so you can even take calls if you need to. Their homemade (I think it is homemade) Basque cheesecake is to die for so come on an empty stomach to experience this deliciousness.

Drops of Jupiter
Drops of Jupiter is a proper brunch restaurant in the heart of Eixample Dreta. This restaurant serves western style brunch food that you can like avocado toast, shakshuka, smoothie bowls and more. It’s also home to a massive space with indoor and outdoor space. The restaurant is never busy in the early mornings making it the perfect place to get work done.
The inside has endless amount of seating with some seats close to plugs. During the weekdays, I stayed until noon and it was not busy at all. I guess people don’t care about brunch food during the weekdays and save it for the weekend scene.
Nevertheless, if you’re looking for a beautiful spot where you don’t feel like you’re taking space away from other patrons, look no further than Drops of Jupiter.

Three Marks Coffee
Three Marks is a popular hipster cafe spot on the border of Eixample and Poblenou. The space is small but optimally organized with an upstairs bar stool seating area that’s perfect for laptop work. While not the most comfortable seating in my opinion, it offers bright and open street views that is missing in a lot of other cafes. There are also plenty of power plugs so you can plug in for awhile.
The coffee and pastries are outstanding. I had numerous coffees at this location and I love that they give a card with every order describing the origin and story of the coffee bean.
There is ample outdoor seating as well if you want to mix it up as well
