Best Gyms In Barcelona, Spain (2026)

Barcelona feels like the kind of city that should have an incredible gym scene.

The weather is good most of the year, the city is made for walking, the beach is right there, and between all the tapas, vermouth bars, late dinners, and endless patatas bravas, there is every reason in the world to make fitness part of your routine. It is one of those places where you expect an amazing mix of luxury gyms, hardcore lifting gyms, wellness clubs, and beautiful fitness spaces all over the city.

But after spending time looking into the city’s fitness options, my honest take is this:

The gym scene in Barcelona is decent, but nothing special.

That probably sounds harsher than I mean it to. Barcelona absolutely has enough gyms to keep you in shape, and there are a few genuinely very nice clubs in the city. But compared with places like Bali, the premium end of the market in Barcelona feels surprisingly thin. The really nice gyms are there, but many of them are located away from the city center in areas like Sarrià-Sant Gervasi or Les Corts, rather than where most expats, digital nomads, and short-term residents first end up living.

That is really the biggest issue with fitness in Barcelona. If you live in Gothic Quarter, El Born, or El Raval, your options are pretty limited. You can definitely find a place to work out, but you are not spoiled for choice when it comes to truly high-end clubs. The best overall mix of gyms is probably in Eixample, where you get a balance of more polished clubs, mid-range chains, and practical no-frills gyms. Once you move farther uptown, the clubs get bigger, nicer, and more wellness-oriented, but also less convenient unless you actually live nearby.

So far, I’ve personally only trained at We/On Balmes and Workshop Fitness Club BCN, and to be honest, I was not particularly impressed with either. They were fine. Not terrible, not amazing, just fine. That said, after digging deeper into the city, there are definitely some fancier clubs worth mentioning, along with plenty of cheaper and less polished gyms that may actually make more sense for day-to-day life.

This is not meant to be a directory of every gym in Barcelona. It is simply my take on the gyms that stand out most, whether for luxury, practicality, value, or location.

What To Know About The Gym Scene In Barcelona

Barcelona does not really have the same concentration of central luxury gyms that you find in some other major international cities. The premium clubs are mostly larger, lifestyle-driven health clubs with pools, wellness zones, racquet courts, restaurants, and spa areas, but they tend to be located outside the historic center. That makes them appealing if you live nearby, but less realistic if you are based in the old town and want a daily routine that does not involve a commute.

For most people living centrally, Eixample is where the best compromise options are. It is where you will find practical choices like Àccura Bruc, We/On Balmes, Fitness Park Casanova, BCN Fitness, and other useful mid-range gyms. If you are in Gothico, Born, or Raval, chances are you will either head toward Eixample for your gym or settle for a more basic neighborhood option.

Barcelona also does better with sports-club style gyms than pure luxury fitness clubs. One of the more interesting examples is Club Natació Atlètic Barceloneta, which combines gym facilities with pools and a beachside location. That feels much more in line with Barcelona’s lifestyle than a glossy, super-premium inner-city gym tower.

And finally, if your goal is simply to lift weights, do cardio, and get on with your day, Barcelona has plenty of workable options. They may not be sexy, but they are often more practical and much better value than paying premium prices for facilities you barely use.

If regular indoor gyms are not your style, consider the numerous free outdoor gyms along the beach in Barceloneta for your calisthenic style workout. There are at least 5 of these along the beach in Barceloneta for you to consider so you will never get bored.

Best Luxury Gyms In Barcelona

Metropolitan Iradier: Best Luxury Gym In Barcelona

For a gym that doesn’t look anything like a gym, but something far more posh and country club-esque, look no further than Metropolitan Iradier. The gym is located in beautiful Victorian era house that looks more like a major embassy than it would a fitness club. It’s something you’ll only find in Europe and Barcelona has one of them.

This is much more than a gym. It is a full wellness club with 10,000 square meters of space in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, including a large fitness area, indoor and outdoor pools, solarium, spa circuit, padel courts, personal training, Pilates, physiotherapy, osteopathy, nutrition services, and even a beauty center. It is clearly designed for people who want a full lifestyle club rather than just somewhere to hit a quick workout.

On paper, this is exactly what many people are looking for when they search for the best luxury gym in Barcelona. It has the amenities, the size, and the upscale health-club feel that is honestly hard to find elsewhere in the city. The only drawback is the same drawback that comes up over and over again in Barcelona: location. If you live nearby, this club makes a lot of sense. If you live in Born or Gothic Quarter, I am not sure it makes enough sense to trek here regularly unless you are really committed to the luxury club lifestyle.

This club will set you back about €150 a month and less depending on the length of membership.

Address: Carrer de les Escoles Pies, 105, Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, 08017 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am–10:30pm; Saturday 9:00am–9:30pm; Sunday and holidays 9:00am–9:00pm

David Lloyd Turó: Best Premium Fitness Club In Les Corts

David Lloyd Turó is another one of the few clubs in Barcelona that genuinely belongs in the premium conversation.

Located just outside the city center in Les Corts near Parc de Cervantes, the club pitches itself as a complete health, fitness, and wellbeing destination. It has a large gym, two pools, tennis and padel courts, a spa, family-friendly programming, and more of a country-club atmosphere than a normal city gym. It is clearly aimed at people who want fitness, racquet sports, relaxation, and community all wrapped into one membership.

This is not the kind of place I would recommend to someone who just wants to train chest and back three times a week and walk home in ten minutes. But if you live on the west side of the city, have a family, or like the broader lifestyle-club setup, this is one of the strongest options in Barcelona. It is one of the few gyms here that feels properly premium from top to bottom.

Address: Avinguda Diagonal, 673-685, Les Corts, 08028 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6:45am–11:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:30am–10:00pm

DiR Diagonal: Best High-End Gym In Zona Alta

DiR Diagonal is one of the flagship clubs in Barcelona and another serious contender for the best upscale gym in the city.

The club has 7,000 square meters of space in the upper area of Barcelona and includes indoor and outdoor swimming pools, six padel courts, yoga and Pilates studios, a Bootcamp zone, a restaurant, steam baths, and a large fitness floor. It feels more like an established health club than a standard commercial gym, which is exactly why it stands out.

If you live in Zona Alta, this is one of the best gyms in Barcelona full stop. If you live in the center, it becomes another one of those “great in theory, less ideal in practice” options. Still, if you want a premium club with a broad offering and a long-established presence in the city, DiR Diagonal absolutely belongs on this list.

Address: Carrer de Ganduxer, 25-27, 08021 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6:00am–10:45pm; Saturday 7:30am–8:45pm; Sunday and holidays 8:00am–8:30pm

Àccura Bruc: Best Upscale Gym In Eixample

For people who want a nicer gym without leaving central Barcelona, Àccura Bruc is probably one of the most appealing options.

It is located in Eixample, which already gives it a massive advantage over many of the city’s best luxury-style clubs. Travel guides and city fitness roundups consistently describe it more like a wellness club than a standard gym, with premium equipment, a brighter training space, a broad class schedule, and recovery-focused features like a sauna and pool.

That combination is pretty rare in central Barcelona. There are plenty of practical gyms around Eixample, but not many that seem to balance convenience with a proper polished club feel. If I were living in Dreta de l’Eixample and wanted something a step above the usual chain gym, this is one of the first places I would check out.

Address: Carrer del Bruc, 122, Eixample, 08009 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am–10:45pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:00am–2:15pm and 5:30pm–9:00pm; holidays 8:00am–3:00pm

Best Gyms In Barcelona City Center

We/On Balmes and Urquinaona

We/On Balmes is one of the most obvious choices for people who want a more premium-feeling gym in a genuinely central location.

There are two clubs, one on Balmes, and one in Urquinaona. The club includes unlimited classes, a pool, spa, cycle studio, Pilates studio, yoga studio, physiotherapy, personal training, a working space, and even a restaurant. In theory, that is a very appealing package, especially for people living in the city center who want more than a simple weights-and-cardio setup.

There is also a large common area that doubles as a co-working space. It’s quite convenient if you don’t want to work from a cafe in Barcelona or pay for a separate co-working space.

This is one of the gyms I’ve actually trained at, and my honest feeling is that it is good but not amazing. It is perfectly functional and it does offer a lot, but it did not strike me as one of those gyms that blows you away the second you walk in. To me, the biggest value here is convenience. If you live centrally and want the pool-and-classes lifestyle without heading way uptown, We/On is absolutely worth considering.

The gym gets extremely busy in the afternoons after work as you would expect. Even during the morning hours when I usually train (10am to noon), it is quite busy. Nevertheless, for about 90 Euros a month (less if you get a longer membership), it’s not a bad deal to have a nice club for your fitness goals.

Address: Carrer de Balmes, 44-46, Eixample, 08007 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 6:30am–10:30pm; Friday 8:00am–9:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:00am–9:00pm

Club Natació Atlètic Barceloneta

If you want a gym that actually feels like Barcelona, Club Natació Atlètic Barceloneta is one of the most interesting options in the city.

Club Natació Atlètic Barceloneta

Located right on the waterfront in Barceloneta, this is less of a glossy boutique fitness club and more of a real sports complex with a strong local identity. It has two outdoor pools, one indoor pool, spa facilities, around 1,200 square meters of weight training space, and classes including yoga and Tai Chi. The beachside setting is a huge part of the appeal here and gives it something many other Barcelona gyms simply do not have.

This place is absolutely massive. It has multiple pools, some lounging and others Olympic size for swimming. It has indoor and outdoor gym areas that are always busy, multiple classrooms, saunas, spas, and even a padel court. It doesn’t feel like a modern fitness studio as much as a YMCA style club, but if you are lucky enough to get a membership, it’s well worth it.

Unfortunately, this gym is Government run and has a long wait list. You cannot just pay and become a member unfortunately. Last time I went, it had a waitlist of 8 months. If you can stomach the wait time, then this place might be the right area for you.

If you live near Barceloneta, Marina, or even parts of Born, this is one of the few options that offers a more complete fitness experience without heading into the upper residential zones. It is not the most luxurious gym on this list, but it is massive and you can easily waste your whole day away.

Address: Plaça del Mar, s/n, Ciutat Vella, 08003 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 6:30am–11:00pm; Saturday 7:00am–11:00pm; Sunday 8:00am–8:00pm

Workshop Fitness Club BCN: Boutique Gym In Sant Martí

Workshop Fitness Club BCN is another more premium-leaning gym and one I have also trained at personally. The gym is actually a popular chain in Kyiv, Ukraine and when the war broke out, the owners moved to Barcelona and decided to open another location. Seemingly, half of the Ukrainian community trains at this gym.

Workshop gym barcelona

The club is in Poblenou, and both Google Maps and the official site position it as a more elevated fitness concept with unlimited gym access, spa access, and a boutique feel. This might be because they bribe members to leave Google Maps review in exchange for protein shakes but hey, you can’t knock the hustle.

The pricing also places it above many of the city’s standard commercial gyms, so it is clearly trying to sit in the higher-end category. At €90 a month, it’s definitely not the cheapest gym for what you get.

That said, this is another gym where I came away feeling a bit underwhelmed. It is not bad by any means, but I did not feel like it fully delivered the sort of premium experience the branding suggests. If you live nearby and like the atmosphere, it may still be worth it. But if you are crossing the city for it, I think there are stronger options.

Address: Carrer d’Àvila, 120, Sant Martí, 08018 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Friday 7:00am–11:00pm; Saturday 9:00am–9:00pm; Sunday 9:00am–3:00pm

Best Budget And Mid-Range Gyms In Barcelona

Fitness Park Casanova: Best Value Gym In Eixample

If your goal is simply to train hard without paying for spa robes and cucumber water, Fitness Park Casanova is one of the best-value gyms in Barcelona.

Located in Eixample, the club offers more than 2,500 square meters of space with free weights, guided strength areas, cardio, indoor cycling, cross-training, HIIT areas, boxing space, and long opening hours from 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM, seven days a week. That is a very practical formula, especially for people with busy schedules who actually want a proper gym floor rather than a wellness retreat.

The price point is also strong. The club advertises promotional pricing starting at €17 for the first four weeks and then €27 per four weeks, which is excellent relative value considering the size and equipment mix.

This is the kind of gym that I suspect makes the most sense for a lot of people in Barcelona. It is central, affordable, and built for actual training.

Address: Carrer de Casanova, 161, Eixample, 08036 Barcelona
Opening hours: Daily 6:00am–1:00am

BCN Fitness: Best No-Nonsense Gym In Central Barcelona

BCN Fitness is another solid option for people who just want a straightforward gym in a useful location.

Based in Eixample on Carrer d’Aragó, the gym emphasizes strength training and highlights its Pure Strength zone with guided machines for chest, legs, shoulders, and back. The club also notes that practical basics such as showers, soap, dryers, and lockers are included, which is more important than it sounds if you are training before work or fitting a session into a packed day.

This is not a destination gym, but not every gym needs to be. In a city where convenience matters more than hype, BCN Fitness looks like the type of place that quietly does the job.

Address: Carrer d’Aragó, 322, Eixample, 08009 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday 6:30am–10:30pm; Tuesday to Friday 6:00am–10:30pm; Saturday 9:00am–9:00pm; Sunday 9:00am–11:00pm

VivaGym (Multiple Locations)

VivaGym is teh working man’s gym. With multiple locations throughout the city, this chain is for those that want to get in and get out without any additional frills.

The club lists all the essentials: cardio, machines, free weights, cycling, classes, lockers, showers, and a functional area. No one is going here for a luxury experience, but that is not really the point. Sometimes the best gym is simply the one that is close enough to use consistently.

If you are based in the old center and feel frustrated by how limited the premium options are nearby, this is the sort of gym that may end up being the most realistic answer. It is a place to get in, train, and get on with your life. Additionally, it’s much cheaper than the other options on the list so at least your wallet will feel good, even if your mind does not.

Address: Carrer de Manso, 28, Eixample, 08015 Barcelona
Opening hours: Monday to Thursday 6:00am–11:00pm; Friday 6:00am–10:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 8:30am–8:00pm

Which Are The Best Gyms In Barcelona Overall?

If money is no object and you live in the right part of town, I would put Metropolitan Iradier, David Lloyd Turó, and DiR Diagonal at the top of the list. Those are the clearest premium clubs in Barcelona and the ones that seem to offer the most complete luxury health-club experience.

If I wanted something nicer while still staying central, I would probably start with Àccura Bruc, then look at We/On Balmes if I specifically wanted a city-center gym with a pool and class schedule. If I lived close to the sea, Club Natació Atlètic Barceloneta would be one of the most interesting options in the city.

And if I were being completely honest about what probably makes the most sense for most people, it would be going with a solid mid-range or budget gym close to your apartment. In Barcelona, convenience matters a lot. A central gym you use four or five times a week is almost always better than a fancy uptown gym you admire from afar.
